Survival Sewing with Camp Fashionista!
Girls will learn about machine safety, general machine use, and learn basic sewing skills both by machine and hand. Skills include correct pinning, make a casing, learning how to measure seam allowance accurately, and how to sew a hem. Other focuses will be on sewing with knits, fabric care, and important techniques like hand sewing; how to thread the needle and tie a knot, learn 2 basic stitches; running stitch & whip stitch, and learn how to sew on 2 kinds of buttons: shank and sew through. Important troubleshooting techniques learned will make them successful and confident first-time sewers!
July 15th, 2018 ~ 1:00pm to 5:00pm
For girls grades 2-12 (*ages 8 and up) and their adult chaperones ~ min 8/max 20 ~ adults are not required to register but registration is an option for side-by-side learning
*Girls must plan to attend all 2 meetings in a session ~ 7/15/2018, 7/22/2018
Fee: $199 per girl ~ $199 per adult
*Please Note: Fees include participation fun patch & supplies. Girls will make a drawstring bag and pincushion as part of the take home projects. Seniors earn their Textile Artist badge.
